Danish company Kamstrup Water Metering, LLC was joined by a series of local, state, and international officials as it cut the ribbon Thursday on its new North American headquarters and manufacturing facility just south of Cumming.
The new 150,000-square-foot facility is located at the Forsyth Commerce Center off Atlanta Highway, not far from GA 400.
Kamstrup supplies intelligent water metering solutions and services and aims to reduce waste and optimize the production and distribution of clean water and energy. The company began its United States operations in 2013.
The event was attended by Kamstrup CEO Soren Kvorning, Bruce Bharat, Vice President and Country Manager with Kamstrup, Christopher Smith, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark, Jesper Møller Sørensen, Ambassador of Denmark to the U.S., and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, among others.
"We see this only as a start of our ambitions here in North America," Kvorning said. "We are here for the long run. The factory is designed for capacity expansions, and we intend to create many more local jobs in the years to come."
Kamstrup was founded in 1946 and has employees in more than 20 countries globally. The North American division of the company is focused on supporting the water industry and water utilities with ultrasonic metering solutions, network communications and software applications.
"It doesn't matter to us where a company is headquartered, whether [that's] around the United States or around the world - if they have a facility that is in our state, we're going to treat them like a Georgia-based company," Governor Kemp said at the event. "That is what we will do not only today but also as you grow into the future."
Ambassador Sørensen told attendees it was inspirational to see the growth of Danish companies in the United States.
"The strengthening of ties between Denmark and the U.S. is such an important part of what we do," Sørensen said. "Kamstrup's new headquarters and manufacturing facility is a testament to exactly that mission."
