Soccer: Key region showdowns happening despite projected rain

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

Despite rain that is expected to move through on Friday. several key region matchups are set around northeast Georgia.

On of the bigger matchups of the night will be at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson when the Dragons play host to No. 2-ranked and unbeaten Clarke Central in boys action. Jefferson (7-4, 4-0 Region 8-5A) has won two straight but will try and take down the Gladiators (12-0-1, 4-0 Region 8-5A) with first place in region 8-5A on the line. The top-ranked Jefferson girls (11-0, 4-0 Region 8-5A) will try to stay perfect on the season against the Lady Gladiators (8-4-2, 3-1 Region 8-5A).

In Region 8-4A, the East Hall (8-3, 3-3 Region 8-4A) and East Forsyth (8-4, 6-3 Region 8-4A) boys will look to keep pace in a crowded field for the final three playoff spots against a pair of region winless teams in Madison County and North Hall.
