By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

Teams like Buford, North Forsyth, Cherokee Bluff, and North Hall all could put some distance between themselves and the rest of their region foes on Wednesday with key region contests around the area.

Cherokee Bluff and North Hall both could continue their collision course in region 8-4A North on Wednesday with wins to clinch their series with East Forsyth and Chestatee.

The No. 2-ranked Bears (16-2, 4-0 Region 8-4A North) roughed up sixth-ranked East Forsyth (12-6, 3-4 Region 8-4A North) on Monday but the series moves to East Forsyth today. The Bears have won seven straight. And fifth-ranked North Hall (8-10, 3-1 Region 8-4A North) will look for a series win over Chestatee (11-9, 4-3 Region 8-4A North) at Lynn Cottrell Field.

In Region 8-6A, North Forsyth and Apalachee have moved to the top of the standings after wins on Monday. The Raiders (13-6, 7-1 Region 8-6A) plays host to Jackson County (6-12, 2-5 Region 8-6A) while Apalachee (10-9, 6-1 Region 8-6A) plays host to Gainesville (7-10, 4-6 Region 8-6A). Habersham Central (13-4, 5-3 Region 8-6A) heads to Lanier (8-11, 4-4 Region 8-6A) trying to stay in third place and shake off a three-game losing streak.
