FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff clinched the Region 8-4A title with a dominating 5-1 win over North Oconee on Thursday at Yonah Field.

The two teams came in undefeated in region play with a winner-take-all showdown.

The win for the Lady Bears (13-3, 10-0 Region 8-4A) was their 10th straight, all in region play. And they wasted little time jumping on the Lady Titans (10-3-1, 8-1 Region 8-4A).

Bluff scored in the 3rd minute to grab a quick lead and then made it 2-0 seven minutes later. The lead was extended to 3-0 in the 14th minute, and they scored again in the 26th minute, eventually taking a 4-0 lead at halftime.

North Oconee finally got on the board in the 55th minute, but the Lady Bears finished off their second region title in three years with a goal and just two minutes left in the match.

The Lady Bears will be off until April 9th, when they will take on Class 7A Mill Creek in Hoschton.

Wayne scored the Bears' second goal on a penalty kick.
