DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Lumpkin County evened the three-game series with a 9-6 road win over Dawson County on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Tigers won Game 1, 13-1, in Dahlonega. Now, the series returns to Dahlonega on Friday for the rubber match. If the Indians (10-9, 6-5 Region 7-3A) win, they'll tie for second place in the Region 7-3A standings.
In other Region 7-3A action, Wesleyan (8-9, 5-4 Region 7-3A) improved its standings in the region with an 11-1 and 3-0 win over White County. The win also lifts them to third place.
On Thursday, the Indians jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third inning off a Tiger error and RBI singles from Hayden Gilbert, Aidyn Flanagan and Harper Davenport.
The Tigers added runs in the fourth and sixth innings but couldn't get any closer.
Davenport led the Indians at the plate with a 3-for-4, one-RBI performance. Boggs finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Boggs was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Adian Rogers picked up the win for the Indians. He gave up five earned runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out five and walking three.
Jacson Rickett drove in three runs for the Tigers.

Josh Lebel pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up one hit and leading LCA to a win over Youngs Americans on Thursday.
The Lightning (9-4, 2-2 GAPPS) recorded 14 hits on the day.
Mikah Criste was 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs to lead LCA at the plate. Tres Criste, Lebel, Gavin Strabala and Landry Boling all had two hits each, and Quinn Winfrey and Jayce Harrison added a hit each. Liam Howell also garnered a hit and 2 RBIs.
