The Principal of Forsyth Central High School has been selected as the Forsyth County School District's next Chief of Staff.
Dr. Josh Lowe was approved for that position Tuesday at a Forsyth County Board of Education meeting.
Lowe will replace Mitch Young's position as Deputy Superintendent beginning July 1.
Most recently, Lowe has served as principal of Forsyth Central High School since June 2021. He previously served as assistant principal of the school for eight years prior.
Prior to his time with Forsyth County Schools, he was assistant principal at Jackson High School and athletic director for the Butts County School District.
"During his career as an educator, he has served as an athletic director, social studies teacher, special education teacher, physical education teacher, and a head football coach while serving in several districts in both Georgia and Alabama," a release from the school district said.
Lowe is a native of Dalton, Georgia. He earned a B.S. in Secondary Education from Jacksonville State University, an M.A. in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama, an Ed.S. in Education Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University.
"In addition to his work in our school district, Dr. Lowe also serves as President-Elect for the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP) Board of Directors, as well as being a member of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) Board of Directors," the release from Forsyth County Schools said.
Lowe was named the GASSP Assistant Principal of the Year for Georgia in 2021.
Additionally, Lowe serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Forsyth County and is a member of The Rotary Club of Forsyth County. Lowe is currently enrolled in the Georgia School Superintendent Associations Superintendent Professional Development Program.
