Fort Yargo State Park beach remains closed for renovations

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

Fort Yargo State Park officials are reminding the public that its beach and day-use area are closed as they undergo major renovations.

The area officially closed in November 2023.

Projected to be complete in mid-2025, the expansion will add a larger swimming beach with more foot showers and full ADA accessible ramps and sidewalks, more parking, a new pavilion with restrooms, showers, and a trading post and new picnic areas and grills. Additionally, park visitors can look forward to updates to Group Shelter A to accommodate larger groups, areas for pickleball and bike racks.

Hiking and biking trails, cottages, campsites, yurts, boat ramps, and all group facilities will remain open during the construction. The park's beach, mini-golf, disc golf, boat rental and surrounding day-use area are closed.

“We are so excited about the new amenities and improvements coming for our guests,” park manager Lori Hamby said. “It will definitely be worth the wait, and our guests can still enjoy the lake and trails during renovation.”

Fort Yargo is open daily and year round. For more information on the ongoing project, click  here
