A Gillsville man was arrested by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Friday night on several charges following a family violence incident near Clearmont.

Deputies responded to a home on the 3000 block of Holly Springs Road at around 5:30 p.m. to reports of unusual behavior observed on the property.

A preliminary investigation by the department revealed the suspect, Jimmy Lee Ledford, 57, allegedly fired a shotgun at a pickup truck that a 79 year old female victim was sitting in. No one was injured, however, the gunfire did damage a tire on the truck.

The victim then ran into the house and called 911. Ledford then reportedly forced his way into the residence and shoved the victim. He also damaged several items in the home, including a slow cooker, two doors and a lamp before running towards his nearby residence.

Deputies were able to locate Ledford and the shotgun inside his home. Ledford was taken into custody without incident and now faces charges of felony first degree home invasion, felony aggravated assault under the family violence act, felony exploitation of an elder person, felony second- degree criminal damage to property, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felony possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, misdemeanor discharge of a firearm on the property of another and misdemeanor discharge of a firearm on or near a public highway.

Ledford remains in the Hall County Jail without bond.
