GCPS named one of the Best Communities for Music Education

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

Gwinnett County Public Schools has received national recognition for its musical education programs by the National Association of Music for the 17th year in a row.

The school system was named  one of the country’s Best Communities for Music Education for its commitment to make music-related programs accessible to students.

“The continued recognition of being named one of the ‘Best Communities for Music Education’  in the country is a reflection on our stakeholders and staff for ensuring that quality opportunities exist for all of our students and that the fine arts are supported with quality facilities, equipment, and funding,”  GCPS Director of Fine Arts David DuBose said.

The BCME program evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards, community support, participation, and access to music instruction. The NAMM Foundation partners with The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas to evaluate school districts.
