United suffers 1st home loss to FC Cincinnati

By The Associated Press

ATLANTA — Luca Orellano scored the first goal of his career with an assist from Luciano Acosta and Acosta added the go-ahead score two minutes later as FC Cincinnati rallied for a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United on Saturday night.

Neither team scored until Thiago Almada used an assist from Edwin Mosquero in the 59th minute to find the net for the second time this season and give Atlanta United (3-3-2) the lead. Mosquero, making his first start of the campaign, set up Almada's right-footed shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner.

Orellano, a 24-year-old rookie forward, took a pass from Acosta and scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute. Acosta gave Cincinnati (4-2-3) the lead in the 64th. Acosta's third goal of the season came with assists from defender DeAndre Yedlin and former Atlanta United defender Miles Robinson, making his eighth start in his first season with Cincinnati. Acosta has nine career goals against Atlanta United, his most against any club.

Cincinnati’s Alec Kann made his second straight start in relief of starter Roman Celentano, saving three shots. Celentano has missed the last two matches with an ankle injury.

Brad Guzan had two saves for Atlanta United. Both goalies had one save in a scoreless first half.

Giorgos Giakoumakis subbed in for Daniel Ríos in the 60th minute for Atlanta United after missing the last two matches with an injury.

Brooks Lennon made his 111th start for Atlanta United, tying him with Robinson and Josef Martínez for second most in club history. Guzan is the all-time leader with 175 and counting.

Cincinnati entered play on a two-match skid but has never lost three in a row under Pat Noonan. The club trails in the all-time series 3-5-5 but has gone 2-0-3 with Noonan at the helm.

Cincinnati returns home to play the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Atlanta United travels to play the Chicago Fire on Saturday.
