By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

Units with Habersham County Emergency Services rescued a person trapped on the porch of a home during a Sunday morning house fire.

Captain and Training Officer Matt Ruark said a man called E-911 at around 4:48 a.m. to report a house fire at 304 Skyview Circle in Clarkesville.

The caller said he was stuck on the porch and could not get off due to a 30-foot drop.

Habersham EMS arrived at around 4:58 a.m. and found the two-story home nearly 75% engulfed in flames.

Crews began to fight the fire as well as rescue the trapped individual.

The person was rescued from the porch at around 5:05 a.m. and was taken to the med unit for evaluation.

He was uninjured and refused care.

After rescuing the victim, units focused all effort on extinguishing the fire.

Crews remained on the scene until 10 a.m. and assisted the state fire marshal with the investigation, which is ongoing.

No crew members were injured during this incident.
