The Association County Commissioners of Georgia honored on Saturday, Apr. 27 Forsyth County District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills with an ACCG Cornerstone Award at the ACCG Annual conference in Savannah.
A press release from Forsyth County said Mills was also reappointed to serve as one of four National Association of Counties representatives for the 2024-2025 ACCG Board of Managers.
“I have been so blessed to be a part of this great organization. ACCG and its employees have enriched my service to our county and made such a positive impact on my life,” Mills said. “To receive a cornerstone award from them, at this time of my tenure in office, is something I will cherish forever.”
Mills was honored with the Cornerstone Award for her leadership and active engagement within ACCG, according to the association.
Mills is the chair of the ACCG Standing Committee on Mental Health & Substance Abuse and has played a pivotal role in advancing ACCG’s mission in advocating for county issues like mental health.
“The ACCG Awards & Recognition Program annually celebrates Georgia’s county leaders,” Executive Director Dave Wills said. “The Cornerstone Award is unique, as the recipients are meticulously selected by the ACCG management staff. Commissioner Mills has been a dedicated public servant to both her community and ACCG, embodying the true spirit of this award. Congratulations to her on the well-deserved recognition.”
