Gainesville's first brewery, Liquid Nation Brewing, has announced that it will close after more than eight years in business.

LNB, which originally opened in 2016 under the name Left Nut Brewery, has been operating in a building on Chicopee Mill Road just off of Atlanta Highway on the south end of the city. A social media post Thursday afternoon by the company said several factors led tot he decision to close.

"Due to many factors - which include the increasing overhead of the current site and the archaic Georgia state laws that limit direct market access for breweries - it has become extremely difficult for us to achieve the type of success in order to remain open," Thursday's post said.

The company did not provide an exact date for their final day of operation, but Thursday's post said they will stay open for the next few weeks. The post also thanked LNB's customers for their support over the years.

"We feel we brought to Gainesville something that was new...not only in our award winning craft beers, but also with a beautiful, unique, and historical facility that served as a venue for many events and experiences," The post said.
