A second straight week of decreasing gas prices is a welcomed sight for Georgia commuters to start the work week.
AAA of Georgia's web site is showing that Georgians are paying an average price of $3.38 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday's state average is 3 cents less than a week ago, 5 cents less than a month ago, but 12 cents more than this time last year.
AAA of Georgia Spokeswoman Montrae Waiters hints that consumers are enjoying the recent drop in price but that there might be a slight rate hike next weekend.
“Crude oil prices, which play a key role in determining what consumers pay at the pump, continue to fluctuate. If crude remains low, typically gas prices will do the same. However, an uptick in demand nearing Memorial Day weekend may cause gas prices to rise,” according to Waiters.
Average price for regular gas in Hall County (as of Monday) sits at $3.35 per gallon, with the lowest average price in Northeast Georgia found in Union County, at $3.29 per gallon, and the highest average rate found in Rabun County, at $3.43 per gallon.
Nationwide average price for unleaded regular gasoline this week ists at $3.59, and has dropped slightly from last week. The AAA link for statewide gas prices can be found, here.
