Northeast Georgia History Center to host "The Flags They Flew" program

The Northeast Georgia History Center will celebrate Flag Day with an event featuring a lecture exploring the development of the United State’s national flag. 

Presented by Carter J. Wood,  "The Flags They Flew," program will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ada Mae Ivester Education center at the museum. 

Wood is a ninth-generation veteran of the US Army with 22 years of service and a member of the Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution. 

The presentation will include 35 full-size flags displayed on a large roll about rack, as well as information regarding the flags’  designers, symbolism and combat history. While the event is intended for an adult audience, the lecture will be appropriate for children over the age of 12. 

 The event is free for Members of the Northeast Georgia History Center and $5 for Non-Members with cash or card at the front desk before the presentation.
