Weekend wreck lands driver upside down in Habersham County riverbed

A Saturday night single-vehicle wreck near Hollywood in Habersham County left a driver upside down after he failed to negotiate a curve.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol and personnel with Habersham County Emergency Services responded at around 11:35 p.m., according to officials.

The incident occurred on Ernest Dover Road at Hollywood Church Road. A Honda Accord driven by Timothy Villagomez, 19, of Clarkesville, exited the roadway after failing to maintain his lane around a curve.

The vehicle reportedly traveled down an embankment and overturned in a small riverbed, becoming submerged in approximately three feet of water.

Villagomez was transported to Northeast Georgia Habersham for the possible complaint of injuries, officials said Tuesday.

He was given a warning for distracted driving, failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions.
