Hall County deputies arrest a Pendergrass man for alleged assaults in May

By Access WDUN Staff

A Pendergrass man has been arrested in connection to a disturbance in May at a residence on Dorsey Peek Road in southeastern Hall County.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokeswoman B.J. Williams says their deputies arrived at the residence at around 7:00 p.m. on May 9 to investigate a reported aggravated assault.

Upon arrival, deputies determined 37-year old Daniel Nathan New had come to the residence to retrieve his vehicle. While there, New began arguing with three men and one woman at the scene.

Williams says the verbal argument turned physical when New retrieved a baseball bat from his vehicle and began swinging it at the four victims and then returned to his vehicle and began to leave the premises. Prior to leaving, he pulled a shotgun from the vehicle, fired one shot towards the victims and threatened that he would return. He then left the scene.

No one was injured at the residence.

Arrest warrants were obtained for eight counts of aggravated assault (two per victim) and New was picked up Tuesday morning, July 16, at the Banks County Jail by HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies. New was later booked at the Hall County Jail, where he is being held without bond, as of this publication.
