The Hall County Government Center has re-opened to the public after smoke caused an evacuation late Friday morning.
County officials said fire crews were called after smoke was reported in the elevator shafts. That smoke was apparently determined to be caused by an equipment malfunction and no fire was ever reported.
Everyone inside the building at the time was evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the malfunction is under investigation. Fire crews from both Hall County and the City of Gainesville responded to the scene.
