By Will Daughtry News Reporter

The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) is having a hiring event in New York City.

The event will be held Aug. 17-18 at the Hyatt Centric Wall Street Hotel in Manhattan.

GCPD is offering a $5,100 hiring incentive and a $3,500 relocation incentive to move to Gwinnett County.

Applicants without an appointment should arrive at 8 a.m. according to GCPD as the process can take several hours.

Those wanting to apply for police officer positions are asked to register and schedule an appointment in advance.

The event will consist of an orientation, a physical agility test, an oral interview, a psychological exam, and a background check.

The next phase of the hiring process will take place at a later time, with the average application process lasting around 90 days.

GCPD offers all officers a 4% annual raise and a 5% shift differential for night watch patrol officers. There is also a 3% educational incentive for two-year degrees and a 6% incentive for four-year degrees for those who qualify.

Those who receive a final offer will be given immediate employment regardless of the start date for the next police academy.
