College football: North Hall's Dan Jackson eager to start 2024 season at UGA

ATHENS, Ga. — On Thursday, North Hall’s Dan Jackson told the media that he’s excited to return to Georgia for his senior year.

“I’m still here, and I’m thankful to be here. I love this university, and I love this team," he said. "Every year’s different. It’s a new opportunity for me, and I’m excited for it. It’s like every other year. I’m hungry, and I saw the opportunity. That’s why I’m here.”

Georgia began fall camp on Thursday, and Jackson, who finished last season with 20 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception, said he still takes the “rookie mindset” heading into practice.

“I’m just excited to be here," he said. "Like every other year, I’m still taking that rookie mindset where you can still learn in every meeting and every walk-through. There’s always room for improvement, and that’s how I’m taking it.”

The Bulldogs' loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship last season eliminated them from playoff contention and denied them an opportunity to win three straight national championships. Jackson has put all that noise behind him.

“This year is a completely different team," Jackson said. "We still have the same standards that we’ve had here at Georgia for a long time. We’re not worried about last year. We’re focused on this year and, right now, fall camp.”
