Despite many Georgia commuters dealing with kids being back to school, buses on the roads again, and the strengthening of Hurricane Debby, gas prices are on the decline this week.
AAA of Georgia's website shows the statewide average price for unleaded regular gasoline today (Monday) sits at $3.28 per gallon, and that's five cents below last week's average price, four cents lower than one month ago, and even 38 cents below the rate from the same time last year.
Montrae Waiters of AAA says, “Georgia drivers continue to see relief at the pumps despite a possible storm approaching. Gas prices may ebb and flow until we get beyond hurricane season and its threats to Gulf Coast oil and gas production and refining.”
The price average in Hall County remains lower than the statewide totals, at $3.24 per gallon. AAA's state average chart shows the highest average price for gasoline in northeast Georgia is in Lumpkin County, just below $3.35 per gallon, with the lowest average in the region found in Stephens County, at $3.16 per gallon.
Nationally, commuters are paying an average price of around $3.47 per gallon, three cents lower than the average from one week ago.
