Softball: Banks Co. rolls past Hab Central; NoFo, WHall drop heartbreakers; Jefferson roughed up

MOUNT AIRY, Ga. — Banks County stayed unbeaten with a 11-5 win over Habersham Central on the road on Tuesday.

Desiree Trudel had three hits and drove in a pair of runs, including a solo home run, to lead the Lady Leopards offense.

Banks County (2-0) scored twice in the second to grab the lead and Tudel’s blast in the third pushed the lead to 3-0. The Lady Leopards blew it open with a four-run fourth, getting a two-run double from Peyton Gaylor and a RBI double from Trudel for a 7-1 lead.

Habersham Central trailed 11-1 before plating four runs in the seventh.

Gaylor earned the win for Banks County, allowing one run on three hits in six innings of work.

Kaylee McCalmon took the loss for Habersham Central, surrendering eight runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Emily Diffenderfer had two hits and two RBI for the Lady Raiders.


NORTH GWINNETT 8,
NORTH FORSYTH 7

The Lady Raiders fell to 0-2 on the young season after North Gwinnett rallied for the win in the seventh.

It was a back-and-forth affair with the Lady Bulldogs grabbing a 4-0 lead in the top of the third. But the Lady Raiders eventually grabbed a 7-6 lead in the fifth on a three-run home run from Ella Rouse.

But North Gwinnett reclaimed the lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Sydney Woyce to tie the game and then scoring on an error on the same play.

Madison Griffin earned the win for North Gwinnett allowing four runs on five hits in three innings of relief.

Addison Walker took the loss giving up two runs on two hits in two innings.


FORSYTH CENTRAL 5,
WEST HALL 4

The Lady Spartans let a late lead slip away in a loss on the road.

West Hall (2-1) scored three runs in the top of the third on RBI singles from Ali Svetz and Eadyn Collins and a bases loaded walk to Ava Collins for a 4-2 lead. It stayed that way until the seventh.

Forsyth Central scored twice in the sixth to tie the game and then got the game-winner in the seventh on a sacrifice fly.

McKenzie Hooper, who also had a RBI single  in the first, took the loss in the circle, allowing six hits and walking five in 6 1/3 innings. She gave up just three earned runs.

West Hall next will play host to Stephens County on Wednesday.


BROOKWOOD 10,
JEFFERSON 3

The Lady Broncos used a six-run first inning to take control and then cruised to a win in Jefferson.

Brookwood added a run in the second, two in third and another in the sixth. Jefferson scored single runs in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Jenna Rapp was the lone bright spot for the Lady Dragons (1-3) with three hits, including a pair of solo home runs.

Jefferson will be back in action on Wednesday playing host to Peachtree Ridge.
