Jackson EMC reports power outage updates amid Saturday night storms

 Update as of 8 a.m. Sunday: 

Jackson EMC reported nearly all 264,000 members have had power restored to them after Saturday night’s storm caused 230 outages to its members. 

The remaining 13 outages, which impact 237 members, are underway to be resolved, according to a release from the cooperative.

Jackson EMC has restored power to over 6,800 members so far. 

As of 7:50 am remaining outages are impacting members in Barrow (203), Gwinnett (24) and Jackson (10) counties.

Jackson EMC said Saturday night that they are experiencing 230 outages affecting 4,748 members across their service area due to Saturday night’s thunderstorms.

They report they have downed limbs, trees, and power lines.

Jackson EMC said their crews are working to restore outages “as quickly as conditions and safety procedures allow until all outages are restored.”

As of 7:37 p.m. on Saturday, they report outages in the following counties:

  • Hall: 1,596

  • Gwinnett: 1,412

  • Barrow: 1,036

  • Jackson: 406

  • Lumpkin: 191

  • Banks: 102

  • Madison: 5

Jackson EMC said that members with medical needs should make provisions until power is restored.

“Members of the public should take care while emergency repairs are underway,” Jackson EMC said in a press release.

They also said to avoid downed power lines and that downed trees and limbs could be jumbled up with power lines.
