Registration now open for 36th annual Lake Lanier Shore Sweep

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The Lake Lanier Association has announced that registration is now open for its 36th annual Shore Sweep cleanup event coming up in September.

The event asks volunteers to help remove trash from the lake's shoreline. Last year's event drew over 1,600 volunteers, removing around 80 tons of trash from Lanier's shoreline.

The 2024 Shore Sweep will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 14 locations across Lanier. The Lake Lanier Association is also offering seven advanced sites this year.

Those interested can participate either by foot or by boat. Groups are welcome, but the association says each individual participating must be registered.

More information on how to sign up can be found here.
