By Will Daughtry News Reporter

The Hall County School District (HCSD) has completed four “newly enhanced” learning commons at East Hall and North Hall Middle and High Schools.

The Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation donated $100,000 to the project, with $25,000 going to each school.

A press release from HCSD said this has “transformed these spaces into modern hubs of learning and innovation.”

A dedication ceremony was held at East Hall High School on Tuesday.

Assistant Superintendent for Technology Dr. Aaron Turpin spoke at the event with him explaining how the new learning commons will support dynamic, student-centered learning environments.

Board Chair Craig Herrington and Board Member Dr. Debra Smith expressed their gratitude to the Ivester Foundation and highlighted their ties to the East Hall and North Hall communities.

Douglas Ivester graduated from North Hall while his wife Kay Ivester graduated from East Hall.

The four new spaces have been named The Victoria Kay Ivester Learning Commons.
