Football: Jefferson blows past Clarke Central

JEFFERSON, Ga. – Dallas Russell scored the first touchdown of the night for the Dragons as Jefferson raced past Clarke Central Friday night, 42-14.

Russell found paydirt in the first quarter from three yards out to get the scoring started. After a Dragon field goal and a Gladiator touchdown, Gavin Markey hooked up with Dalton Dye for 32 yards and a Jefferson touchdown to make the score 17-7.

After leading 20-14 at halftime, Rett Hemphill accounded for 60 rushing yards, 59 on one play before a 1-yard score, to push the Dragon lead to 28-14. Russell scored his second touchdown of the night at the start of the fourth quarter before Markey rushed in for one of his own midway through the final period.

The Dragons will play host to Stephens County next week at Memorial Stadium.
