Gas price average tops $3 per gallon in Hall County and statewide for Monday morning, per AAA

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

There's been a jump at the gas pumps in Hall County, and much of Georgia to start the work week.

AAA of Georgia's website shows the average price for unleaded regular gasoline in the state is just above $3.01 per gallon for Monday morning (subject to change).  That's more than six cents higher than one week ago, as well as one month ago, but it sits 17 cents lower than at the same time one year ago.

Montrae Waiters with AAA of Georgia says, "With spring just around the corner, refineries are switching up to their summer fuels and doing the usual tune-ups, which means we might see a bit of a bump in prices at this time. Also, a major refinery in Northern California hit pause on its operations because of an explosion that took place on February 1st, which also caused prices to rise at the pumps in parts of the country."

Commuters in Hall County will be waking up Monday to see an average price of $3 per gallon, also up about 8 cents from a week ago.  The lowest average prices (subject to change) in northeast Georgia can be found in Hart County, at $2.81 per gallon with the highest average found in Forsyth County, at about $3.12 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.

Nationally, the average price is just above $3.16 per gallon to start the week. A link to fund the updated gas price averages with AAA can be found here.
