East Hall Community starts GoFundMe page to support basketball player's ICU recovery

The East Hall High School basketball community has started a GoFundMe page to support a player’s medical expenses.

EHHS student Chasen Jones was reportedly involved in a car accident early Sunday morning, and remained in the ICU as of last update.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said an initial investigation indicated Jones and two other teens were traveling  in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Ledan Rd. in the left-hand curve just before Southers Rd. at 12:15 a.m.

A dense fog had reportedly settled in the area, causing the Jeep’s driver to lose control of the Jeep in the curve and cross over into the southbound lane of Ledan Rd. The Jeep then struck a ditch and overturned.

Jones and a second passenger, Kymani Hester, 16, were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville for treatment. The driver, Isaac Randolph, 17, was not injured in the crash. All three teens are from Gainesville.

Jessica Burce, President of Tipoff for East Hall, organized the fundraiser with the goal of obtaining $10,000 to support Jones’ recovery. The page raised over $8,000 as of Monday afternoon.

“As a community, we want to surround his family with love, prayers and financial support as they remain by his side during his road to recovery,” the page said. “Any financial contribution, no matter the amount, would be a great blessing. It will help cover food and snacks for the family, as well as medical expenses for our favorite #3, also known as ‘The Beast!’
