GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Gainesville rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to get new coach Chan Brown’s first victory of the season with a 4-3 win over Forsyth Central on Monday at Ivey-Watson Field.
The Red Elephants (1-3) trailed 3-0 after the Bulldogs scored a run in the first on an Austin Friedlander RBI single and two in the third. But Gainesville plated a pair of runs in the fourth on a Cohen Miller two-run home run to center.
Dawson Vaughn started for Gainesville and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while fanning five in 2 2/3 innings. Silas Ingram and Beckett Brown pitched the final 4 1/3 innings allowing just one hit while striking out three in relief.
In the sixth, Gainesville got the game-winning runs on a passed ball and a big Forsyth Central error. Brown got the win going the final 1 2/3 innings but had to work around a pair of base-runners in the seventh.

EAST HALL 9
The War Eagles also earned their first win of the season in dramatic fashion scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
That came after East Hall had rallied from a 7-2 deficit with 7 runs in the top of the seventh.
Ethan Dunn got the game-winner with a two-out, two-run single scoring Thomas Martens and Carter Edmondson.
Chestatee (1-3) led 4-0 after the second inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Eli Chafin. But East Hall answered with two runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and a RBI single by CJ Fair.
The War Eagles pushed their lead 7-2 in the sixth on a two-run single by Cort Hagerman. But again the Vikings stormed back.
In the big seventh inning, Caden Crocker had a two-run double, and Tyler Parker had a two-run single to pull East Hall within 7-6. After scoring a run on a Chestatee error, Cody Knight drove in two runs with a double to left for a 9-7 lead.
Chafin got the win for the War Eagles, giving up just three earned runs in two innings on five hits and three walks.
Tripp Moore took the loss for East Hall, surrendering six runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings.
CHEROKEE BLUFF 7,
DAWSON COUNTY 3
The Bears avenged an earlier loss to the Tigers with a win at Bluff Park on Monday.
Bluff (2-2) used a 4-run fourth inning to blow open a close game but had to hold on in the seventh as Dawson County loaded the bases with the tying run at the plate. However, Bubba Coleman struck out the final Dawson County batter to end the game and preserve their second straight win.
In the fourth, the Bears scored a run on an error and then a RBI double from Garrett Harper and a two-run single from Landon Kemp to jump out to a 5-0 lead.
Gabe Gowder started and went 4 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while fanning seven to get the win.
Kemp finished with two hits and two RBI to lead the Bluff offense.
Preston Bannister had two hits for Dawson County (1-3). Jackson Rickett drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

CEDAR SHOALS 2-6
The Knights swept a doubleheader over the Jaguars on the road on Monday.
In the first game, Johnson (2-2) scored six in each of the second and third innings and then four in the fourth to invoke the Mercy Rule. In the second game, the Knights scored six runs in the second and then put the game out of reach in the fifth scoring nine times to invoke the Mercy Rule again.
Cruz Gobert had four hits and 5 RBI and Felipi Delgado three hits and 4 RBI to lead Johnson in the two games.
Alex Alvarez got the win in the first game and Payton Rose got the win in the second for the Knights.
