MT. AIRY, Ga. — Habersham Central split its season series with Clarke Central and evened its Region 8-5A record with a 10-3 win at home on Monday.

The Raiders used a big six-run third inning to erase a 3-0 deficit. Mason Witt had the big hit, driving in two runs with a single. Ethan Wheeler was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and they scored two more on a Gladiators error for a 6-3 lead.

Habersham Central (7-6, 1-1 Region 8-5A) scored twice more in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Clarke Central (7-8, 1-1 Region 8-5A) opened the game with a two-run home run from Casper Emory in the first. They took a 3-0 lead in the third.

But the Raiders rallied against Gladiators’ starter Juan Diego Martinez, who took the loss. Martinez gave up six runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out three in three innings.

Carter Crane got the win for Habersham Central lasting five innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits. Lucas Machado pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the Raiders.

Tyler Rothell and Witt each had two hits for Habersham Central.

The Raiders will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Winder-Barrow to open another Region 8-5A series.
