The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is hoping to raise $100,000 to help care for animals with the Tee Off For Tails golf tournament on Thursday.
The one-day event will be held at the Chateau Elan Golf Club with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at the Braselton course.
Event organizers are looking for both sponsors and golfers to help the shelter reach its event fundraising goal of $100,000.
“Our team looks forward to blending our community’s passion for golf and animal welfare by bringing back a golf tournament after many years of dormancy,” the shelter’s senior director of marketing and development Erin Askounis said. “We are excited to offer a new opportunity for our steadfast donors to support our shelter while potentially reaching new supporters through a day on the green.”
Single player fees are $225 and a foursome is $800. Entry includes player fees, breakfast, lunch, event swag and entry to win raffle prizes. Players also have the option to purchase mulligans and celebrity shots for an additional donation. The shelter is also calling on individuals and businesses to support the event through sponsorships, beginning at $500.
“Our sponsors and event supporters make it possible for us to care for thousands of animals in our shelter and even more pets in the community each year,” said Juan Cueto, president and executive director of the shelter. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity that allows us to expand our mission to help more animals and people in need.”
In 2024, the shelter connected nearly 1,500 animals to their forever families and served an additional 3,549 families with low-cost veterinary care. The shelter’s Healthy Pet Clinic, an affordable veterinary option for pet owners in the community, will perform its 100,000th spay/neuter surgery later this year.
