A 19-year-old man is dead after police found him suffering from a gunshot wound near a Duluth-area bank early Thursday morning.

The Gwinnett County Police Department said Friday that officers were called to a reported shooting near the intersection of Shackleford Road and Steve Reynolds Boulevard at 1:00 a.m. Thursday. Images released by the police department appear to show the crime scene being at the Wells Fargo Bank location.

"Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound," a statement from the police department said. "He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries."

Police have identified the victim as Xavier Tyler Stephens. Officials say investigators are still working to determine a motive for the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified as of Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Gwinnett police by calling 770-513-5300, or by contacting Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta either online or by calling 404-577-TIPS (8477).
