A three-vehicle wreck on Wednesday morning resulted in one death on GA 77 near Stephen Johnson Road in Hart County.
The Georgia State Patrol said a 1995 Ford Ranger, a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 2021 GMC Yukon XL were all driving north on GA 77 just before 9:24 a.m.
The Dodge and GMC were stopped in a construction zone.
According to the investigation, the Ford was following too closely and hit the back of the Dodge, which then pushed the Dodge into the GMC.
The driver of the Ford, William Stanley Bridges, 68, of Elberton, was pronounced dead at the scene. GSP said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the GMC was left with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Dodge was uninjured.
