Hall Co. to hold ribbon cutting as Friendship Road sewer project wraps up

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

In celebration of completing the Friendship Road sewer project, Hall County will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22.

“We broke ground on this project in April 2023, so I am excited to officially cut the ribbon on a project that serves thousands of existing residents and businesses, as well as provides infrastructure that will support the continued growth in South Hall,” District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper said.

The sewer extension added 5.2 miles of sewer lines along the Friendship Road corridor. The sewer lines serve the Mitchell Creek Basin area along the Hall County and Gwinnett County line.

3.2 miles of that are gravity lines while the other 2 miles are force main lines.

“This project was a huge undertaking for the county and serves as a testimony to the Board of Commissioners’ vision to plan for the future of our community while increasing and enhancing our local government services,” Cooper said.

The ceremony will be held at 6166 Blackjack Road and is open to the public. A shuttle service will be provided for those who may need assistance getting to the ceremony location.

The budget for the project was $13.9-million and was funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) dollars and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
