East Hall High School is one step closer to getting a new principal named.

Superintendent Will Schofield announced his intent to recommend Chestatee High School Assistant Principal Jennifer Gibson for the role at the April 28 board meeting.

Gibson will begin in the role following the retirement of current Principal Jeff Cooper at the end of the school year.

Gibson has two decades of experience in Hall County Schools, all at Chestatee High.

She began as an English teacher from 2005 to 2015, then as a media specialist from 2015 to 2019. Since 2019, she has been the assistant principal.

“Jennifer Gibson has shown outstanding leadership at Chestatee High School,” Schofield said. “Her ability to connect with students, lead instructional improvement, and build relationships with the entire school community make her the right choice. East Hall will continue to thrive in this next season.”

Gibson holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education and an education specialist degree in learning, design, and technology from the University of Georgia. She also holds a master’s degree in secondary English education from the University of North Georgia.
