Tennis playoffs: NHall teams take impressive opening round wins

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Both North Hall tennis teams advanced to the second round of the Class 3A tennis playoffs after taking impressive wins at home on Wednesday.

The Lady Trojans routed Richmond Academy, 4-0, losing just five total games. The boys beat Spalding 3-0 without dropping a set.

For the girls, Lilly Perry defeated Anne Ross Roche 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Ella Kate Canaday whipped Kelly Jane Andrews 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Mary Eloise Tymchuk and Ellie Bangs knocked off Cullen Rahimi and Darby Martin 6-2, 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Braely Jarrard and Neely Vining defeated Kaitlin Henson and Faustine Perrett 6-1, 6-1 to help clinch the match.

For the boys, Jack Maddox got a 6-1, 6-0 win over Harry Aldridge at No. 1 singles while the doubles clinched the victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Brooks Dorsey and James Floyd beat Jack Joiner and AJ Fulton 6-1, 6-1 while the No. 2 team of JJ Dean and Andrew Boyd held off Anderson Fowler and Niko Landers 6-3, 6-3 to clinch it.

The girls improved to 17-6 on the season and will travel to Calhoun on Monday in the second round.

The boys are now 16-7 and will hit the road against Southeast Bulloch in the second round. A date and time has yet to be determined.
