Edward Lee Purcell

Edward Lee Purcell age 82 of Toccoa, Georgia passed away Friday April 3, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Purcell was born on October 3, 1937 in Stephens County, Georgia to the late Ernest and Marie Holcomb Purcell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Shoan Marie Weaver; a son, Anthony Dale Purcell; a grandson, Tanner Purcell; sisters Mary Hampton, Agnes Brown, Edna Bell; brothers Clarence and Terrell Purcell.

Mr. Purcell was a member of Hunter’s Creek Baptist Church, Toccoa, GA. He was a retired construction supervisor with Bovis Construction Company of Atlanta. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time spent with family.

Survivors include: his wife of 63 years: Louise Keller Purcell; a son: Brent Allen Purcell (Debbie), Carnesville; son-in-law: Larry Weaver of Murrayville; daughter-in-law: Connie Purcell of Carnesville; Grandsons: Wesley Hughes, Dustin Purcell, Christopher Purcell of Toccoa; Alex Purcell, Justin and Matthew Gosnell of Carnesville; Granddaughters: April Cleveland and Shannon Beebe of Toccoa; twelve great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; sisters: Helen Taylor of Marietta, GA; Nancy Watson of Mansfield, GA; Ruby Ferguson of Dawsonville, GA; Joyce Collins of Toccoa, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Toccoa, GA on Sunday, April 5.

Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery

Due to the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation. They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.
