Ben Douglas (Doug) Phillips

Ben Douglas Phillips (Doug), passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, in Gainesville, Georgia, following a brief illness.

Doug was born July 18, 1944, in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Ben Wilson Phillips and Lois (Owen) Phillips. 

He leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy (Quick) Phillips, four sons, Chad Phillips (Fredda); Ben Phillips, Tony Munoz (Polly) and Mike Munoz (Robin); four grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, Tyler and Brandon, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Grace.

Doug attended Gainesville High School and graduated from the University of Georgia. He has many friends from both schools and loved his Kappa Sigma brothers. The four Amigo’s, Philip Wilheit, John Smithgall, Scotty Gunter and Doug, met often and were very loved and special to Doug. 

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, which he loved and rarely missed a Sunday service.   

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be observed at a later date.
