Raymond Garner Newell

Raymond Garner Newell age 81 of Gainesville passed away Sunday May 24, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Newell was born May 27, 1938 in Gainesville to the late James & Charlotte Brookshire Newell. He served his Country in the United States Army. He retired from Con Agra as a truckdriver where he served for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith but had attended New Haven Church. Mr. Newell was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Clark Newell; son, Shane Etris; brothers, Ralph Newell, & Eddie Newell.

Survivors include, daughter, Teresa (Carlos) Hernandez, Gainesville; son, Robin Etris, Gainesville; sister, Maria Thomas, Savannah; grandchildren, Codi, Heath & Kayla; 3 great grandchildren with special great grandchild, Jordan Milligan. A number of nieces & nephews also survive, but one who was like a son to Raymond, Kevin (Patricia) Thomas, Clarkesville.  

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday May 28, 2020 at the Alta Vista Cemetery with Rev. Richard Thomas officiating.
