Mr. J.D. Greenway, age 92, of Dahlonega passed away on August 20, 2020. J.D. was born on December 15, 1927 to the late J. Wesley Greenway and Rachel Cora Arminda Long Greenway in Dial, Georgia. On Christmas Day in 1948, J.D. married the love of his life, Ruby Grace Holtzclaw Greenway. When he and his family moved to Dahlonega, J.D.’s love for the town sparked. He was co-owner of Greenway Grocery for more than 35 years and his business mind helped develop and bring business to Dahlonega. J.D.’s heart was as big as life itself and he was always willing to give a hand to help in any way he could. He served on the Hospital Authority Board to help bring a local hospital to Lumpkin County. That hospital recently became a part of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. J.D. also served on the planning committee that brought Torrington to help local industry. His commitment to community development is still being felt in the town he loved to call home.
J.D.’s heart to serve and lead was seen in his fifty plus years of being a Mason. He was committed to the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge #38 F&AM.
