Hazel Davidson Collins, age 80, of Gillsville, GA passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 following a battle with cancer.
She was born in 1940 in Jackson county to Joeve and Leila Boswell Davidson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant baby, Melanie Ann Collins and her former husband, James (Jimmy) Collins, brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Johnnie Davidson, brothers-in-law Jim Eddins and Earl Tench.
Hazel was a graduate of Lyman Hall School and worked as a legal secretary to Judge Joseph Blackshear and several local attorneys. She was a member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church and faithfully supported the ministries of her son-in-laws and grandson. She loved gospel music and supported many local gospel singings as well.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws Melody and Tony Scarborough, Gainesville; Julie and Chris Segars, Gillsville; son and daughter-in-law Bradley and Sandy Collins, Clermont. Grandson and wife Trey and Tesa Scarborough, grandson Grayson Segars, only granddaughter Madison Segars, step-grandson Jesse Peterson and great-granddaughter Remy Scarborough. Sisters Hilda Tench, Betty Eddins, Glinda and Pete Roshau and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on 1:00 p.m. Tuesday December 8, 2020 at Wards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grayson Segars & Rev. James Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday December 7, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
