John David Marrs

John David Marrs, 84, of Cumming passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 in his home surrounded by family.  Born November 16, 1936 in Etowah, TN to the late Dewey and Grace Marrs.  John D. Marrs married Margaret Mitchell September 14, 1958 in Athens and together they lived in Burlington, VT, Long Island, NY, Murfreesboro, TN, Knoxville, TN, Marietta, GA, Boise, ID before settling in Cumming. John and Margaret were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) where he served in numerous leadership roles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Marrs; and sister, Eleanor Gwenolyn Harper, and nephew, Billy Harper.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Marrs. Marrs; children, Montgomery David and Jacqueline Marrs, Deborah Lynn Marrs, Patricia A. Madison, Steve and Kim Gusmus; grandchildren, April Holmes, Nicholas Marrs, Carly Dahlgren, Michelle and Dane Ganoung, Jacquline M. Case, Grace V. Case, Elisabeth Clay, Anna Clay, Christine Clay; great grandchildren, Lily, Claire, Aiden, Josie, Reese, Kylee, Kadence, Norah, Natalie; 9 nieces and nephews. He was a friend to all and loved by his many friends. He was an explorer at heart and loved flying airplanes and riding fast cars and motorcycles.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA with Bishop David Goulding officiating. Private interment will be held Friday, December 11, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour for service. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that masks be worn during the visitation and services.
