Howard Quentin Thomas

Obituary Date: Tuesday, January 26, 2021

Quentin Howard Thomas, 74, of the Shoal Creek community in Cleveland, GA passed away on the morning of January 26, 2021 at his residence.

Quentin was born August 10, 1946 at home attended by a midwife.  He was the first born of Riley H. and Maudell Stringer Thomas.  His paternal grandparents were J. G. and Milbry Reid Thomas.  His maternal grandparents were Alex and Cora Belle Kanady Stringer.  He was a long time member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed keeping up with car and go cart racing, watching television, keeping up with family history and working in his welding shop.

He joined the United States Navy at an early age and traveled to many places in the world.  He completed his education in the Navy and trained to be a welder.  He was a retired Vietnam War Veteran and served from 1964 to 1984. He was serving on the U.S.S. Union when the first amphibious landing by the United States military forces was made in Vietnam in 1967.

Quentin is survived by Deborah Thomas, his wife; brothers Ronald Thomas (Trina), Buster Thomas (Faye), and sister La Venier Mize Hicks (Jerry), all of Cleveland. In addition, he is survived by the mother of his children, Dora Hudson and son Christian Thomas both of McKinney, TX and daughter, Natalie Hancock (Adam) of Tryon, OK.  His two grandsons, also of OK, are Alexander and Anthony Hancock.  In addition, several nephews and nieces, cousins and relatives survive.

No public services are planned due to Covid.  The family appreciates all of your prayers at this time.
