Jack Lavinder

Jack Lavinder, 91, of St. Simons Island, GA, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021. Mr. Lavinder will be transported to Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home, Brunswick, GA, for funeral service and interment. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church, St. Simons Island. Rev. Wright Culpepper will officiate. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery on St. Simons Island, with Military Honors. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Fern Lavinder. He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Scott Lavinder and his wife Lisa of St. Simons Island, and Jamie Beth Lavinder Brown and her husband Richard of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Lauren and Lisa; great grandchild, Presley; bonus grandchildren, Kelly, Allison and Daniel; bonus great grandchildren, Aidan, Lily, Rhett, Grant, Ellie, Caleb, Colton, and Sawyer. Jack was born in Kingsport, TN and lived in the metro Atlanta area from 1966 – 1983, he moved to St. Simons Island and lived there until 2017 and then returned to live in Dacula. He retired as an electrical engineer from Georgia Power and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, McKendree United Methodist Church, Lawrenceville, and Tallulah Falls United Methodist Church.
