Joan Virginia McCarty Moore

Joan Virginia McCarty Moore, age 71, of Gainesville, GA passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021.

She was a loving wife , mother, grandmother, and a friend to all . She retired as a Biology teacher from North Hall High School. She was a highly Intelligent woman who graduated from North GA College in Dahlonega, GA at the top of her class . In her younger years, she enjoyed showing horses in lady’s Western Pleasure. In the early 70’s, she actually placed runner up in the State Championship, and when she got older, she enjoyed camping with her family on weekends. Joan was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hall County.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Moore; and parents, Grady & Thelma McCarty . 

Joan is survived by her husband of 42 years , Rick Moore, Gainesville GA;  daughter, Keri Lamb, Gainesville, GA; son-in-law, Phillip Lamb , Gainesville, GA; brother, Tommy McCarty & his wife is Bonnie McCarty; and 4 grandchildren, Jade Blalock , Alyiah Moon , Demetri Moon , and Tyler Lamb.

Funeral services for Joan are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hall County.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
