Randall Nelson Evans

Obituary Date: Saturday, February 6, 2021

Randall Nelson Evans, age 71 of Gainesville favorably known as “Butch” passed away from heart disease on Saturday February 6, 2021.

He was born on Friday Sept. 16, 1949 in Chicopee Village. Butch was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the Unites States Army. He started two trucking businesses that ran into early eighties, then began a successful glass business from which he retired in 2016, Northeast Georgia Glass.

Butch was an avid outdoorsman whom loved to fish and spend time in nature. He was the life of the party, whether he was host or not he had a larger-than-life personality with a quick sense of humor. He learned that not working hard and taking risks makes life miserable and that following the rules like everyone else is sometimes a mistake. Some life lessons we could all learn from. What better way to get the last laugh than to have people say nice things about you. If we tried to invent a character like Butch, nobody would have believed it.

Butch is survived by his son and daughter in law, Eric & Heather Evans, of Gainesville; sister, Ginny Hall of Lawrenceville; brother Rick “Ax” & wife Allison Evans of Waleska; 4 nieces, a nephew and several cousins and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Chad Evans.

Per Butch’s request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Butch may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, P.O. Box 368 Woodland Hills California 91365. Garysinisefoundation.org/donate (Tax deductible)
