Mr. Thomas “Tom” David Watson, 89, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville Campus.
Born on March 15, 1931 in Ft. Myers Florida, he was the son of the late Thomas Harris and Eunice Cain Watson. He was a graduate of Atlanta Christian College (now Point University). He was a Pastor for 25 years and served congregations in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Illinois. After retiring from the ministry, he was the owner and operator of Watson Home Improvement for over 25 years. Mr. Watson had a passion for craftsmanship and this was evident in the amount of detail and quality he put in his work. On his high school track team, he broke the state of Florida record for the one mile run.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his son, Joe Watson, daughter, Joy Watson Dyer, and 9 siblings.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Moye Watson; daughter and son in law, Jan and Marty Nix; grandchildren, Matthew Nix, Jessica Nix, Brenden Worth (Bekki), and Connor Worth. Surviving siblings are Frances Miller, Charles Watson, Beth Netsch, and Anne Gomez.

Private Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Parlor of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Brian Stephens will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
