Hazel Katheryne “Kay” Wilson

Obituary Date: Wednesday, May 19, 2021

Ms. Hazel Katheryne “Kay” Wilson age 78 of Mexico Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday May 19, 2021 at The Oaks at Braselton Assisted Living following an extended illness.   

Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday May 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Charlie Maddox will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 23, 2021 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.       

Kay was born on June 24, 1942 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late James Benjamin and Anna Marie Schroder Lindsey. Ms. Wilson was the owner and operator of K-W Meat Brokers. Kay’s greatest gift was being the most generous, fun-loving, spirited beautiful soul. She loved with every ounce of her being. She was a lady who was caring, affectionate, forgiving, and so empathetic toward others, especially those in need. She loved her family and friends deeply with a compassionate heart. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Beach, reading, and playing Sudoku. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Gillen, son, William Talmadge Wilson.

                   Kay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Vanessa Wilson of Dawsonville, step-son, William Gillen of Gainesville, step-daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Billy Ray Garrett of Athens, step-daughter, Martha Cochran of Panama City Beach, Florida, sister and brother- in-law, Suzanne and Stan Bell of Athens, grandchildren, Ronald Wilson II, Mallory Wilson, Katheryne Wilson, Jamie Allgood, Shyanne Allgood, William Gillen IV, Matt Cochran, Megan Cochran, and 20 great-grandchildren.         

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia organization- Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease; MBARA- MBARA - Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association or The Shriners Hospital; Shriners Hospitals for Children® (lovetotherescue.org) in Memory of Ms. Wilson.
