David Lamar Barrett

Mr. David Lamar Barrett, age 65, of Dahlonega passed away on May 26, 2021. He was born on July 7, 1955 in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Boyd Barrett and the late Lillie Faye Garner Barrett. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed cruising the mountain roads on his motorcycle and spending time with his family who meant the world to him. He was an extremely hard worker and exemplified ethics and reliability in all that he did. He will be remembered by those who knew him best for being a dedicated family man who loved his family and his pets with every ounce of his heart. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Tommy Barrett, Larry Barrett, and Eula Mae Dockery; granddaughter, Kinsley Taylor Howard; mother of children, Bonnie Howard; and significant other, Wanda Foster. 

He is survived by his siblings, Mac Arthur Barrett, Marie Harkins, and Russell (Doris Ivester) Barrett, all of Dahlonega; children, Jason Howard of Gainesville, Danny (Brenda) Howard of Dahlonega, and Chuck (Jennifer) Howard of Dahlonega; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; close friend Bruce Foster; and his pet dog, "Dixie". Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Dunagan officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a charitable donation to an organization of your choosing.
