Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Harvie Carter Golden, age 83 of Commerce, Georgia who entered into rest Monday, June 21, 2021. Mr. Golden was born in Pearson, Georgia, the son of the late Richard and Bertha Cook Golden Dodson. Mr. Golden was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, a Volunteer with the local Meals on Wheels for many years, was a retired IT Specialist with the Georgia Department of Corrections and was a beloved husband, father, and PoPa who enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. In addition to his parents, Mr. Golden is preceded by a son, Ricky Golden and his stepfather, Oliver Dodson.
Survivors include his wife of sixty - one years, Carolyn Courson Golden of Commerce. Two daughters, Cathy Evans (Stan) of Jefferson, and Nada Morris (Jeff) of Commerce. Grandchildren, Taylor Golden (Sara) of Jefferson, Mallory Clinton (Robert) of Commerce, Jake Morris (Chelsea) of Commerce, Kelsey Heaton (Cohen) of Commerce, and Carter Evans of Jefferson. Four great grandchildren and one on the way. One sister, Betty Johnson (John) of Maryland also survives.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Reverend Carlton Allen officiating with burial to follow in Grey Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Church 9:30 – 11:00 prior to the service.
